Orton’s Electrical Rail Project Wins National Award

Orton's Electrical Project Scoops National Recognition

As a leading electrical and mechanical company in the West Midlands, we’re thrilled to have been recognised for the second year in a row at the prestigious Electrical Industry Awards.

We recently picked up the top award in the Electrical Project of the Year category at the Electrical Industry Awards for our comprehensive work at the Penzance Long Rock Depot redevelopment, our biggest project to-date. You can read about the full project here.

The 26th Electrical Industry Awards took place on Thursday 25th October in the Palace Suite at the Royal Garden Hotel in London, and saw hundreds of guests gathered to celebrate the very best from across the electrical industry.

Judges praised our work on the redevelopment of the Penzance Long Rock Depot, which spanned 18 months and completed in December 2017.

The £5million electrical project involved extensive planning and coordination by Orton Group staff to remain on time and on budget, as well as create innovative solutions throughout to speed the project up by 12 weeks, all whilst ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding areas.

Andrew Lowe, Managing Director of Orton Group, explained: “We’re absolutely honoured to have won the Electrical Project of the Year for this project, which was undoubtedly the biggest and most complex that we’ve done as a team in our 27 year history.”

Set up in 1991 as a sole-trading company, Orton Group now employs over 100 staff and over 100 contractors, working with large national organisations across the rail, commercial and industrial, new build and social housing sectors.
